HopeBUILDERS is a collaborative housing repair group, made up of volunteers in the community. They assist those in need in the Kansas City area with accessibility adaptations and home repairs.

WILS will build and repair wheelchair ramps to the entrance of a home so it is accessible to a person with a disability while funds are available

The HOME program assists eligible homeowners with rehabilitation needs of their owner-occupied homes. Health and safety, accessibility and curing local code citations may be addressed through the HOME Program.

The Home Repair Program provides assistance to very-low income households with home repairs that would pose a health and/or safety issue for the homeowner and the community. Eligible conditions include barrier removal.

Minor Home Repair program offers assistance for exterior repairs, repairing roofs, furnaces, porches and more.

Information on how to help loved ones stay safe in their homes and age in place, including home modification information.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a City of Shawnee volunteer program that helps eligible residents maintain and remain in their home. Work is done by volunteers who can help with trash and snow removal, yard work, limited repairs, and other needs inside and outside the home.

This is a membership based program that provides minor home repair and chores, computer trouble shooting, an annual home safety assessment, information and referral and social and educational opportunities to help older adults maintain their independence at home. Minor home repairs include fixing toilets, replacing thermostats, cleaning dryer vents, adding weather stripping, cleaning gutters, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and installing grab bars or handrails.

Provide needed home repair assistance to homeowners who lack the finances or resources to have the repairs completed. These homeowners include the elderly, the disabled, and veterans.

Eligible KCMO homeowners who are in need of minor home repairs in targeted areas. The emergency home repair program is no longer in operation. Examples of eligible repairs include: Roofing, with a special emphasis on improvements which reduce storm water run-off from the site; Plumbing – water service line, which may include branch lines and water heater; Plumbing – sewer service line, which may include branch lines, or interior improvements; Electrical systems – service entrance and main panel, which may include branch circuits; and Furnace – (available September 1) repairs and replacements, which may include ductwork.

The City of Olathe provides several housing programs to eligible homeowners including the Deferred Loan Program, which is designed to address current building code violations, upgrade major systems and utilize energy-related improvements and the Emergency Repair Grant Program is for repairs that affect health and safety.

Provide low interest loans or deferred payment loans to individuals over 62 years of age or disablede for home repairs and rehabilitation. Also provide regular loans for other individuals who meet the criteria of the program.

Jerusalem Farm will consider home repair that involves painting, drywall, reparing or building porches and decks, wheelchair ramps, window repair and weatherization. They will not do projects that involve plumbing, electric or foundation repair.

The program addresses repairs that, if left unattended, would have a direct impact on the health, safety or accessibility of the homeowner. This does not include repair of appliances or exterior maintenance such as yard work. May include exterior painting if there is a code violation or city citation. Included are electrical & plumbing repairs.

Metro Lutheran Ministry is providing minor home repair to homeowners who are elderly, low-income, and those with disabilities. They provide home assessments, repair estimates, and repairs to allow seniors and persons with disabilities to remain in their homes. The focus is on repairs that increase security and safety like wheelchair ramps, widening doorways, and installation of safety rails. Weatherization and LED bulb kits may also be available, pending funding availability.

Provides emergency assistance to individuals on a case by case basis. Assistance would be provided only if no other funding source is available and if agency has funding at the time of the requested need.

The Older Adult Handyman program makes safety-related repairs such as air conditioning and furnace repair, grab bars and hand rail installation, along with other tripping and fall hazard repairs.

The Minor Home Repair program can help with small projects (1-2 hours) with materials paid for by the client. Examples of minor repairs include electrical (replace switches, sockets, plugs on cords, light bulbs; change fuses), plumbing (repair leaky faucets, shower heads, replace flapper valve on toilet, no drain work), carpentry (step repair, trim doors, repair door catches, cabinets, hinges; replace screens), replace furnace filters, evaluate concrete work, install weather stripping, smoke detectors, repair/replace locks. Referrals will be made for larger jobs.

RTKC provides essential home repairs and safety modifications like installing grab bars, handrails, taller toilets, bathroom assistive devices, accessible showers, modified steps, repairing rotten flooring, and repairing faulty plumbing

Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City provides minor and critical home repair for homeowners in the communities they serve. Assistance may include roof repair and replacement and HVAC repair and replacement.
