County Coordinator will assist participants in applying for Section 8, including Housing Choice program.

Cameron Housing Authority offers affordable housing options to low income families and individuals.
Hillcrest Platte County offers displaced families a disciplined educational program whose main objective is to move families from homelessness to self-sufficiency within 90 days by addressing the total live situation of the homeless families they serve. In exchange for rent/utility-free housing, residents are required by written agreement to work full time, obey program guidelines and attend volunteer-taught classes in life skills, employment, community living and budgeting.

Independence Housing Authority strives to provide safe, clean and affordable housing to low income families and individuals through Public Housing. Anyone in need of housing is eligible to apply.

The Clinton Housing Authority provides access to affordable housing for low income families. This location only provides public housing.
Help with Section 8 Housing vouchers
Short-term (6 months) transitional housing to provide psychiatric stabilization and skill development to address mental health and/or substance use recovery issues, in order to live successfully in an independent setting.
Section 8 housing program
Johnson County Family Lodge provides shelter to homeless families. Families can stay at the shelter for a maximum 3 months.
Section 8 voucher program. Vouchers cover a portion of rent to a property that accepts Section 8.
Offers transitional living for those who have "aged out" of foster care or can no longer live in group home. Provide supervised apartment setting for young adults with PTSD, depression, etc.
Leavenworth Public Housing Authority offers public housing through the Planters II highrise building.
The Olathe Housing Authority provides affordable housing to low income Olathe residents. Estimated time on the waiting list is two-three years. Waiting list is purged each December of those who do not return waiting list update each year.
Section 8 voucher program is subject to a wait list. Preference will be given among the initial 1,000 application to 1) elderly and disabled applicants, 2) applicants who live or work in Johnson County (not including Olathe), 3) applicants who are Victims of Domestic Violence.

SEKCAP offers section 8/Housing Choice vouchers for area individuals with low income.
Ray County Housing Authority accepts applications for Section 8 rental program.
Supportive emergency housing for homeless veterans Residents also receive case management, supported services and meals while in program.
Hillcrest provides a transitional housing program for homeless youth, ages 16-24. Youth housing sites are located in Kansas City, KS and Overland Park, KS and Independence, MO. Youth transitional housing is up to a 24-month program. During this time, Hillcrest provides a rent- and utility-free apartment, access to a food pantry, and case management.
Offers public housing based on income to low-income individuals. They permit the individuals or families to live in the city owned property, paying rent, for up to five years in order to get credit and personal situation settled. Then the individual or family have the option to obtain their own financing to purchase the property.
