The SkillUP program provides SNAP participants opportunities to gain skills, training, or experience that will improve their ability to attain employment and decrease their dependency on public assistance programs. The intention of the SkillUP program is rapid attachment to work that leads to self-sufficiency for individuals and families. The program offers job search training, education, and supportive services to participants. The SkillUP program provides short-term training in the quickest possible time in order to lead to employment. Training should be completed within one year or less, must align with the participant’s employment plan, and lead to employment and self-sufficiency.

The Children's Division actively seeks individuals and couples who are willing to become foster parents for the children in the State's custody. Prospective foster parents take a total of 27 hours of training on five competencies necessary to work with the children in CD custody and their families.

Services offered through the Senior Centers include noon-time congregate meals, home-delivered meals to surrounding communities, social, recreational, and educational activities.

The HelpKC offers a credit improvement program. They focus on credit education, debt navigation, and strategies to help participants raise their credit scores to 700 or higher.

Truman Lake Women's and Children's center specializes in working with women who are experiencing substance use disorders and are 18 or older. Programming focuses on the unique needs of pregnant women and women with or without children. Women who utilize our residential center can expect to receive an array of services including: • Substance use treatment • Focus on prenatal care to include a referral to an ob/gyn • Neonatal abstinence syndrome • Parenting classes • Post-partum symptoms • Trauma focused care and safety planning • Co-occurring disorders • Individual and family therapy • Medication Assisted Treatment

Foster Care Case Management: Provides assessment of placement, home visitation counseling and support, obtaining resources, reunification and permanency planning meetings, interventions to ensure that children who enter foster care have safe, stable, and permanent long-term caregivers.

Each participating household receives an allotment of food benefits based on the USDA's Thrifty Food Plan. This allotment is adjusted annually according to the U. S. Department of Labor's analysis of the cost of food. Missouri Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is the method by which households receive and use food stamp benefits. Households may use their Missouri EBT card in any grocery store or retail location anywhere in the United States that has been authorized by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service and displays the Quest sign. The benefits may be used to purchase any food or food products prepared for human consumption except alcoholic beverages and tobacco, hot foods, or foods prepared for immediate consumption. Benefits may also be used to buy seeds and plants for use in gardens to produce food for the personal consumption of the household. Under certain conditions, members of the eligible households who are 60 years of age or older may use the benefits to pay for home delivered meals and other meals prepared for elderly persons.
