MERIL is a community-based, non-residential program, designed to promote independent living and to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities and seniors by empowering them to control and direct their lives and thus participate actively and independently in society.

Emergency room.

Parents who are seeking to regain custody of their children, or who are in need of supervised visitation with their children, may access the services of the Children's Division through a court order from the county/state of the custody's jurisdiction. Visitation will be arranged per the conditions of the court order. These services are also available to families who are involved in child abuse/neglect investigations and subsequent court rulings.

Neighborhood Centers work with families and individuals to help them achieve self-sufficiency and stability. Services include emergency assistance, Life Skills workshops, one-on-one Family Support and Targeted Coaching and referrals to other community programs. Governmental and community funds are used to provide food, rent, or mortgage assistance and utility bill assistance. Funding is limited, call the Center for additional details.

Serves pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, infants and children up to five years who are nutritionally at risk. Nutrition education is given. The client receives vouchers, supplemental food packages. Immunizations are given at the clinic. Screening by a registered nurse for iron count, dental screening and growth screening.

Offers hot nutritious meals, home delivered meals, educational, recreational and health programs, I&R, outreach, telephone reassurance, volunteerism and other activities.

Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavior disorders are coordinated by primary care providers in consultation with a psychiatrist and clinical social worker team.

Health screenings are provided for the following: Cardiovascular, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV, Diabetes, Lead, and tuberculosis. Other screenings available upon request.

Food pantry

Various Life Skills workshops are presented to small groups of participants to increase their knowledge and skills in areas that are important to managing life. ~Financial Planning: Values and goals, budgeting, credit, comparison shopping and buying a car. ~Parent Education; Communication skills & styles; self esteem issues; constructive discipline; creative play. ~Nutrition/Shopping Skills: Nutrition guidelines & food safety; food buying; consumer tips. ~Time/Stress Management: Effectively gain control of time usage & habits. Coping with stress; techniques to reduce stress; children & stress. ~Health Care: Family health care; normal child development; self health care. ~Employment Skills: Job readiness and retainment skills training.

The mission provides overnight shelter, breakfast and dinner, medical care, counseling, clothing, transportation, adult basic education, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and referral services. Chapel attendance mandatory for shelter. "Taste and See" is available daily beginning at 4:30pm. Men may come for dinner, a shower and stay for chapel service. Taste and See does not guarantee a bed for the night.

Warming center.

Provide a wide variety of services, from birth/death certificates, home health visits to health issue counseling, from Immunization Clinics to blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, from WIC Clinics to Well Baby Clinics, restaurant inspections, bioterrorism and emergency planning, well water testing, on-site sewer appraisals and permitting, and communicable disease investigation and more.

Provides a building where fire engines and fire equipment are stored. Location provides space for training to firefighters so they can respond to fires.

Offers a program that is designed to help the trainee gain specific skills necessary to meet the requirements of competitive employment. Trainees receive one-on-one support to learn and identify compensatory strategies to improve job success.

Adolescent and youth counseling services provided, including psychiatric disorder counseling, group counseling, ad family counseling.

Offers a cooling site for individuals during declared heat emergencies.

Outreach: Provides interventions initiated by an agency or organization for the purpose of identifying potential clients or their caregivers and encouraging their use of existing services and benefits.
