Legal Aid’s Human Rights Protection unit provides free civil legal counsel and representation for low-income people. The unit helps Migrant Farmworkers in Missouri who are experiencing civil legal issues that are negatively impacting their lives. The unit also assist victims of human trafficking who need civil legal assistance.
Legal assistance with issues such as domestic violence, guardianship, or consumer issues, focusing on preventing homelessness or physical harm.
Provides general legal aid, legal representation and legal counseling for active duty veterans and current active duty military in the areas of VA benefits & appeals, warrants, criminal charges, child custody, child support, divorce, orders of protection, guardianship, debt counseling, landlord/tenant issues, estate planning, tax law, real estate, bankruptcy, employment issues and business issues.
Legal Advice on wills and power of attorney Hosted by volunteer attorney over the phone or via zoom.
Legal assistance with issues such as domestic violence, guardianship, and consumer issues, focusing on preventing homelessness or physical harm.
An attorney will be in the office providing legal advice on topics such as garnishments, child support, warrants, etc. The attorney will provide advice only, NOT legal representation.
Justice in the Schools operates legal clinics out of several schools within the Kansas City Public School System and the Hickman Mills District to help students and their families with civil legal issues that negatively affect school attendance and performance. The clinic provides free civil legal representation and counsel for matters such as family law, healthcare, public benefits, federal benefits, and consumer matters.
Legal Aid of Western Missouri provides free legal representation and counsel to disadvantaged seniors and low-income residents in civil (non-criminal) matters. Legal Aid is currently only handling housing cases referred from the Right To Counsel (RTC) program or cases that involve the termination of a voucher or Section 8 eviction. If the client is faced with a court eviction within the city limits of Kansas City, please have them complete a RTC application through 211. If the client is experiencing a voucher termination or an eviction of their Section 8 housing, they can contact Legal Aid to do an application for assistance. Legal Aid has a limited capacity for cases due to capacity, so assistance may be limited at this time. Eviction assistance outside of RTC or Section 8 is not available.
Kansas Legal Services provides legal advice and representation to vulnerable Kansans. They assist with family law, housing, drivers' license issues, disability and other public benefits, expungements, consumer matters, and more.
Legal Aid of Western Missouri provides free legal representation and counsel to disadvantaged seniors and low-income residents in civil (non-criminal) matters. Priority is given to cases involving housing, employment, domestic abuse, immigration, consumer problems and public benefits.
