Clients earn minimum wage doing enclave work to include, taking inventory and servicing several vending machines that RRI owns throughout Leavenworth County
Help individuals with persistent mental illness develop personal, social and employment skills that enable them to become more productive citizens. It is adjacent to Spruce Landing, a 19-unit apartment complex, providing semi-independent housing for adults with mental illness. Therapist-facilitated treatment sessions in which individuals discuss their attitudes, feelings and problems in order to achieve greater self and interpersonal understanding.
Working closely with Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Mental Health and corporate partners such as CVS and Staples, Ability KC is a unique resource for individuals with disabilities searching for meaningful community employment opportunities. The employment services teams assist individuals with application preparation, interview skills, job training and job placement.

Supported employment consists of on-the job training and long term support services to help individuals with severe disabilities maintain employment.
Vocational Rehabilitation helps people with disabilities find and maintain employment. This includes assessment, job counseling, training, and job finding assistance with the help of a job counselor.
Supportive Employment is a program for people with disabilities that involves one-on-one support from a coach.
Nova Center provides a Transitional Workshop for individuals who have been unsuccessful in other work situations due to challenging behaviors. Participant receives assessment and job training which may lead to them being hired on in the Sheltered Workshop or in the job market.
Tri-Ko’s on-site production floor, where wage-seeking individuals may participate in contract and piece work from various vendors, including but not limited to sorting and assembling tasks.

Employment Services assists those with disabilities from 16 years of age and up to find fulfilling employment. They provide the necessary resources before, during, and after employment begins. They work to match individual skill sets and passions with employment opportunities.

Vocational rehabilitation services to visually impaired persons so they may achieve gainful employment. Other supportive services may be available to persons not seeking employment
Provides services needed to enter, remain in or return to suitable employment. Services include diagnosis and evaluation; counseling and guidance; vision restoration programs like uninsured people needing cataract surgery or glaucoma surgery. Provide training to continue employment or school, technical or trade jobs and job placement/development. Also provide help adapting electronic aides/devices for the workplace and follow-up services.

Ability KC offers supported employment opportunities through Ability KC Industries. More than 120 trained and professionally supervised clients with disabilities assist with tasks from intricate assembly, detailed handwork, collations to special packaging to meet a broad range of business needs. We empower all individual to reach their greatest level of employment potential, but recognize that everyone can thrive in the competitive workforce environment. Ability KC Industries is one of the few sheltered employment facilities in Kansas City to employ individuals with mental illness.
