VIP Industries is a not-for-profit corporation established under Senate Bill #52 for the employment of handicapped individuals either being Mentally Retarded or Developmentally Disabled.
VIP "Very Important People" provides three basic needs for the handicapped and the community. "Pay Check" allows the handicapped to perform a service for society by earning a portion of their livelihood. "Responsibility" gives them the responsibility of coming to work and doing a job. "Asset to Business" performs a service to competitive industry in jobs that are labor intensive.
VIP Industries is the largest sheltered workshop in the State of Missouri and serves (2) two counties, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger and part of Stoddard and Scott. Each supports itself by either local contributions or by Senate Bill #40 moneys.
VIP Industries now has a work force of over three hundred (300) handicapped individuals at three plants. The facilities are located in Cape Girardeau, Fruitland and Marble Hill, Mo. The employees work a 6 hour day and some employees participate in an adult educational program (ABE) or a recreational program after work hours.
