Missouri Work Assistance (MWA) works with individuals to assist them in overcoming barriers that may prevent them from obtaining or keeping employment.

Save Our Sons: A four-week job readiness program assisting males to obtain gainful employment to earn a livable wage. Participants will also be engaged in Resume Writing, Mock Interviews, Financial Literacy, GED Classes, Post-Secondary Education, Trade and Apprenticeship Opportunities.

Groups services will offer individuals the opportunity to participate on the cleaning crew, while being paid during training. Individual services will offer one-on-one training at a site developed in the community, individuals in this program will not be paid during services. These services are time limited to six months.

The SkillUP program provides SNAP participants opportunities to gain skills, training, or experience that will improve their ability to attain employment and decrease their dependency on public assistance programs. The intention of the SkillUP program is rapid attachment to work that leads to self-sufficiency for individuals and families. The program offers job search training, education, and supportive services to participants. The SkillUP program provides short-term training in the quickest possible time in order to lead to employment. Training should be completed within one year or less, must align with the participant’s employment plan, and lead to employment and self-sufficiency.

WEN prepares women for job searching with a variety of strategies. CAREER EXPLORATION: Clients focus on identifying skills and values they can call upon to meet the needs of the job(s) they are interested in. ESSENTIAL JOB DOCUMENTS: Clients put together a master application to aid in completing online job applications. Each woman meets with a staff member or volunteer for a two-hour resume review. INTERVIEW STRATEGIES & MOCK INTERVIEWS: Clients participate in mock interviews led by human resource professionals, hiring managers, and other business professionals who serve as WEN volunteers. ASSESSMENT & CASE MANAGEMENT: Clients meet with a case manager to discuss personal goals and social concerns (e.g. housing, food, childcare, transportation, and physical/mental health). Case managers assess the client's needs and help them access community resources.

Provides assistance in finding a job on Missouri's Great Hires website, GED instructional assistance, career assessments, and on-the-job training program, and tuition assistance to help pay for college. An on-site resource room is available with computers, Internet, and resume preparation assistance.
