Thelma’s Kitchen, a nonprofit community café and social venture of Reconciliation Services. Offers affordable meals in the heart of Kansas City—where dishes range from $1 to $15 for every budget.

Lunch Partners offers a free weekly meal to Independence people who are un housed or need food.
Free lunch provided to anyone in the community with food insecurity concerns.
Open Door Kitchen provides a warm meal in their cafeteria.
Provides an evening meal for anyone that wants to attend.
Picnic in the Park provides a weekly meal on Sunday afternoons (3:15pm-4:15pm) at Mill Creek Park by the fountain to provide food when many agencies/kitchens don't serve.
Grace United serves community meals. There are hamburgers and hotdogs in the summer and chili in the winter.

Trinity United Methodist Church provides a hot meal to anyone in need in the community.
Provides after school food in their Back Pack Buddies group for kids to have food for weekends when they will not be attending school.

As a sponsoring agency for the Child and Adult Care Food Program, The Family Conservancy provides aid to family child care homes for the provision of nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. Participants receive funds to purchase healthy food, nutrition and meal planning information and access to KidKare child care management software.
