The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a winter heating assistance program that helps eligible households pay a portion of their home energy costs one time per year.

Application process

Applications for the program have been mailed to households that received energy assistance last year. LIEAP applications are also available at local DCF offices and through Johnson County Multi Service Centers during application period. They can be requested over the phone. To apply online, visit https://cssp.kees.ks.gov/apspssp/sspNonMed.portal. Applications must be received prior to 5pm, March 31, 2025.

Eligibility

Household income must not exceed 150% of the federal poverty level; Bill must be in the name of the individual applying for assistance; Must have made recent payments toward heating or cooling costs of at least $80 or the balance of the bill, whichever is less; At least one member of the household must be a US citizen or "qualified alien"
