Eligibility

Income guidelines and need child care because you have a child under the age of thirteen, or age thirteen or older with a special needs, and you are: working; attending school; in job training; disabled; being evaluated for training and or employment; receiving child welfare services from the Dept of Social Services Children's Division; and/or you have a child with special needs.

Application process

You may download an application from the website, request an application be mailed to you or walk in. You will also need to complete an interview with FSD.

Fees

Child care providers receive payment directly from DSS for payment of the state rate (varies by county), less any sliding fee. You are responsible for paying the sliding fee and any co-payment charges to the child care provider (except for Children's Division families child care assistance). Parents/guardians can lose their child care assistance for failure to pay their sliding fee. Children with special needs may have sliding fee waived.
