Eligibility

Scores on an individual intelligence test at or above the 96th percentile. Scores on a standardized achievement test composite at or above the 95th percentile. On tests which have no composite, the percentile average of the major batteries' ranks is used as long as the area score(s) of Language Arts/Reading is (are) not below the 90th percentile rank. Nominations are supported by documented evidence of outstanding performance by persons from two or more of the following groups: teachers, other school personnel, external professionals who are experts in the program area, peers, and parents. Referrals can be made by parents, educators, and students themselves. Ages 5 to 12 years old. Gifted Education continues 14 to 18 years old.

Required documents

Standardized Test Scores, individual intelligence test scores, and documented evidence of outstanding perfomance. Guidance counselor can provide testing if tests have not been administered already.

Hours

Same as regular school hours. The day of the week varies by grade and by year. Call primary school for information regarding when that grade's LEAP class is offered.
