Eligibility
  • LIHEAP:
  • Income Guidelines Apply
  • Households at or below 150% of the federal poverty income level based on the household's gross income for 30 days prior to application date

  • The Summer Assistance Program:
  • Income Guidelines Apply
  • Must have at least one individual with a medical condition that can be improved by air conditioning, such as asthma, emphysema, coronary disease and terminal illnesses
  • An individual age 60 years and older
  • At least one child age 5 years and under as of the date of application
  • At least one individual receiving Social Security Disability benefits or a pending determination case at the Social Security Administration
  • Current PIPP (Percentage of Income Payment Plan) participating households that are receiving PIPP benefits on their electric ARE NOT eligible for summer cooling assistance
  • Also households that received PIPP benefits anytime during the period of September 2013 through August 31, 2014 ARE NOT eligible for summer cooling assistance
Required documents
  • The Summer Assistance Program:
  • Certification Letter from Doctor Documenting Disability - dated within 90 days, stating that the medical condition would be aggravated by extreme heat
  • Letter of Determination from the Social Security Administration documenting a pending determination case at the Social Security Administration
